Panda Bear Picture

In a Panda Bear picture, you’ll see a small bear-like animal with a dense bi-colored coat. The head of the Panda is large and massive; the body and legs are well-muscled, but without excessive fat; the tail is short. In size, Giant Pandas are similar to Black Bears. Male Pandas weigh about 100 kg and have a body length of about 160 cm. Some animals have a body length up to 180 cm. The Panda’s fur is coarse and water resistant because of skin oil; the undercoat is very dense and wooly. The striking coat color serves as a camouflage in the dense vegetation. Giant Pandas spend most part of their life in the trees. Their claws are very sharp and curved, providing for easy climbing. When on the ground, Pandas are slow-moving and helpless.

Ancient Panda Bear picture galleries found on the territory of modern China, Burma, and Vietnam prove that these animals were once considered to be semi-divine creatures. Many Chinese emperors kept them as a symbol of luck and peace in their gardens. The Giant Panda population has always been very small because of predation, hunting and poaching. Nowadays, these animals suffer from habitat destruction. The major part of their diet is comprised of bamboo leaves and shoots. When bamboo forests are destroyed for the sake of agriculture, Pandas have nothing to eat.

It’s very difficult to take a Panda Bear picture in the wild, because these animals prefer elevated habitats or dense remote forests. Giant Pandas are solitary and very difficult to notice in dense vegetation because of their mottled coat. Today, the captive Panda population is growing, but the wild population is decreasing. Although Giant Pandas are legally protected throughout their range, their low reproductive rate and late sexual maturity age make them very vulnerable. The wild populations of the Giant Pandas are fragmented, which may lead to hereditary disorders because of a poor gene pool within the population.

Pandas are pure vegetarians, living mostly on bamboo leaves and stems. When eating with their front paws, they look like humans. Quiet nature and slow movements of Pandas add to their image of a non-aggressive animal. A Panda Bear picture is a world-wide known symbol of peace and conservation of endangered species.
